Zombie Dice is Matt’s choice of game to take on holiday as it’s quick and compact, he maintains that you can play it pretty much anywhere! (We think this needs to be tested – maybe we’ll send Matt out to do that one day).
Zombie Dice is a quick fun game in which a player wins by being the first to collect thirteen brains! Will you keep rolling and risk losing your brains or will you slowly edge your way to victory instead?
Collect as many brains as you can each turn but be careful, if you roll three shotgun dice you’re out that turn!
Zombie Dice game rules / How do you play the game Zombie Dice?
First, you need to decide who goes first – this can be decided either by:
1 ) Who won the last game
2) Whoever can do the best zombie impression and say “Braaaains!”
After you’re done laughing hysterically, you need to roll some dice (hence the name, Zombie Dice.)
Zombie Dice comes with a cup so pop all the dice in there, then draw three at random (hopefully there’s lots of green ones)…and roll!
Separate the brains, shotguns and feet.
Put the brains to one side as these will build up your score for the turn.
Next, count how many shotguns there are – if there are three or more, your turn ends and you score nothing that turn. If there are less than three, just pop them to one side for now.
Finally, keep hold of any footprints as you’ll re-roll these if you decide to go again.
Now (assuming you didn’t get three shotguns in your first turn), you need to decide if you want to continue rolling dice or if you want to stop. If you stop, you count up your brains, make a note of your core and pass the turn to the next player.
If you decide to continue, you take any footprints from your previous roll and add dice from the cup to bring the total to three (for example, if you rolled one footprint last turn, you would take two dice from the cup and roll them with the footprint from last turn so that you’ll be rolling three dice in total again – you always roll three dice at a time). Once you’ve picked up new dice you have to roll (even if they’re all red…sorry.)
You continue your turn until you roll three or more shotguns (and score nothing) or decide to stop and count your brains.
You win the game by collecting thirteen brains.
If you run out of dice in the cup at any point so that you can’t roll three dice, make a note of how many brains you’ve collected so far, keep the shotguns to the side and put all your other dice back into the cup so that you can continue to roll.
How to win Zombie Dice?
You win the game by collecting thirteen brains before your opponents.
From a strategy perspective you need to weigh up whether you want to keep rolling more dice and therefore possibly increase the number of brains you can collect that turn, however, you also risk rolling more shotgun blasts – three of these and you’ll collect precisely zero brains that turn!
And remember, if your opponents are suggesting you keep rolling…don’t give in to peer pressure (just ask Matt)!
Answer: There are 13 dice in Zombie Dice - 6 green dice, 4 yellow and 3 red. The green dice have 3 brains on, 2 footprints and 1 shotgun. These are the easiest. The yellow dice have 2 brains, 2 footprints and 2 shotguns. These are medium. The red dice has 1 brain, 2 footprints and 3 shotguns. These are the most difficult dice.
Who would like Zombie Dice?
Answer: Because it’s so small and there’s no board as such, it’s a really convenient game for families to take on holiday (assuming your children are over 10 years old) and because it’s a really quick game it’s a good one to turn to when you just need to keep the kids occupied for 20 minutes! Plane journey? Zombie Dice! Waiting for food at a cafe/restaurant? Zombie Dice! You get the idea… It’s also a good one to play on a lunch break, particularly as there isn’t a maximum player limit so everyone can join in!
